THE QUESTION WHICH BECAME THE WORK

Understanding what
was happening underneath.

Karine Spiess’s interest in human behavior began before clinical training. As a child, she watched people and worked backward. What were the rules of belonging? What earned warmth? Why did a room suddenly feel different?

In adulthood, a relationship became a place where belonging no longer depended on performance. Its ending unsettled more than a future. Emotional safety, connection, and trust in the story she believed she was living came apart together.

The years which followed gave her a question she needed language for. Why did understanding what had happened leave so much of the pattern untouched? What was her body protecting, and where did change need to begin?

The question entered
the therapy room.

Clinical work gave her lifelong curiosity a purpose. She observed people with similar-looking difficulties respond differently to the same approach. Looking at what each person did, felt, and faced brought more specific questions into view.

Across three years of developing The Stuck Point, she brought those questions into a framework: five needs to consider, eight interacting entry points, and therapeutic practices organized around the work they address. The practice creates an opening. The need gives the next action a direction.

Her own story is the route into the book. Clinical observations and established psychological approaches inform the map. Together, they form the body of work she is bringing into education, learning, and software.

The institution she is building.

Help people understand what their patterns are protecting, recognize their needs without shame, and choose more fitting ways to change, so their lives hold more choice, connection, and room to give.

The Stuck Point is the public home for this work. Its foundation connects the book, the framework, essays, developing learning experiences, and professional inquiry. The ambition reaches from understanding recurring patterns to building lives with more choice, connection, self-respect, meaning, and room to give.

THE PURPOSE

A life with room to receive.
A life with room to give.

The work begins with recognition. The purpose is what becomes possible after it.
